Emily McLane MSOT, OTR/L

Emily McLane Occupational Therapist uses nature and community spaces to make treatment accessible and realistic

I am the owner of Blooming Possibilities Pediatric OT Services. I am a licensed Occupational Therapist in Colorado and Massachusetts. I have been practicing since January 2020 in a variety of settings including private practice, schools, Early Intervnetion, and community-based settings. My treatment specialities include feeding, sensory integration, and aqua-therapy.

I graduated from Ithaca College with my Bachelor’s in Occupational Science in 2018, with a minor in Deaf Studies, and Master’s in Occupational Therapy in 2019. I frequently use a total communication approach when working with kids, including American Sign Language.

Emily McLane Pediatric OT specializes in play intervention for regulation and meeting sensory needs.

In my free time, you can find me enjoying nature and seeking adventures throughout my community. I consider myself a sensory seeker and meet my sensory needs through aerial yoga, hiking, skiing, and swimming. To unwind, I crochet, bake, and read. I enjoy spending time with my loved ones and my dog, Sadie.

I have a passion for working with families and helping them understand their child(ren), providing functional strategies to support familial routines, and increasing children’s autonomy in their lives.

Parents, Caregivers, family members are part of the team and included in treatment and planning decisions of pediatric therapy

Pillar 1: Evidence-Based Practice

Blooming Possibilities strives to stay up to date on research. We work to provide evidence for our interventions and share the evidence with families to empower their carry-over at home.

We work to make research and evidence digestible and functional within family routines.

Community approach to therapy including family members as part of the team, collaboration, and occurring in natural realistic environments
Pediatric Therapy works to use play and meaningful activities to support the participation in routines and family activities

Pillar 4: Communication

One of our goals is to support the communication and understanding between children and their caregivers. We work to understand the “why” of actions to support children from the source.

We believe in open communication between Blooming Possibilities, the families, and the child to the best of everyone’s abilities. All therapy is customizable and should support the needs of all parties involved.

In addition, we strive to communicate with other team members in order to provide consistent information for the medical and therapy team members.

Pillar 5: Team Approach

Blooming Possibilities values the team approach to therapy. A child’s team includes their caregivers, the child, and all of their providers.

Caregivers are an integral part of the therapeutic process, as they are the experts on their children and spend the most time with them.

We strive to empower children to advocate for themselves and have a voice in the therapeutic process.

All other providers have specific specialties that we utilize to provide a holistic approach for overall treatment and consistency across all domains.

Pillar 3: Community

Community consists of the environments we explore and the people involved in them. As a mobile outpatient clinic, we utilize community locations and engage in community activities to support regulation and inclusion.

Pillar 2: Meaningful Activities

Blooming Possibilities believes that Occupational Therapy is a resource to support family dynamics, where we can provide skilled intervention and coaching strategies to increase functioning in daily activities and routines.

Children’s occupations are playing, learning, and participating in self-care. They deserve autonomy within these activities and a voice to determine how it works best for their body. They receive empowerment and choices of how to participate in their meaningful activities.
